Statement of Academic Freedom

'We, the undersigned, believe the following two principles to be the foundation of academic freedom:

(1) that academics, both inside and outside the classroom, have unrestricted liberty to question and test received wisdom and to put forward controversial and unpopular opinions, whether or not these are deemed offensive, and

(2) that academic institutions have no right to curb the exercise of this freedom by members of their staff, or to use it as grounds for disciplinary action or dismissal.'

It ends with the colonel saying "i am your leader". Great sheep spirit I say. Two years and two months, I had to endure crap like this. And for what purpose exactly?

1-2-3-4 reminder

Just a reminder that 1-2-3-4, an art gig at Fabrica Gallery in Brighton, is taking place this Friday (18th) at 7pm. Featuring "five artists who use music performance as an integral component of their practice". The artists are former Turner prize winner Martin Creed, the Apathy Band, the Barefoot Lone Pilgrim aka David Blandy, the Coolness, and Plastique Fantastique. A discussion on the subject of interdisciplinary practice (music and visual art) will take place on Thursday 28th January 2010 at the Sallis Benney Theater, University of Brighton. The discussion will include some of the performing artists from the gig. The event is selling out rather quickly so be sure to book your tickets quickly by visiting this website . Or try getting them from Grey Area , Fabrica , or Resident . A limited print booklet of the event will also be available at the night of the event, designed by yours truly.
